Venkatesh Murthy is the founder, National Organizing Secretary of ‘Youth for Seva’. Youth for Seva (YFS), is a volunteering organization that works with youth on projects for social change. YFS is present in over 25 cities across India with projects in sectors like literacy for underprivileged kids, healthcare awareness, environment and aiding differently abled.
After completing B.Tech (Computer Science) from KREC (now NIT), Suratkal, Venkatesh worked for 15 years in IT industry both in US and in India, last employer being EMC2. Apart from professional engagement, he was actively involved with many voluntary organizations in USA like Seva International and Balagokulam. He took time off for two years (1997-1999) and volunteered full time in West Indies (Trinidad and Guyana) working with children and youth.
Since May 2008, he is volunteering full time with Youth for Seva. He has keen interest in music.
Yashveer has worked with International development organisations on strategy & sustainability and has been instrumental in launching & setting up new projects. Prior to this, he founded a youth non-profit to address talent inequity in the development sector and influence youth culture in India by inspiring, educating, and supporting university students to pursue social innovation and entrepreneurship. For his work, Yashveer has been recognized as one of the Social Entrepreneurs in “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia” list in the year 2016. He was also awarded prestigious Youth Action Net 2012 Fellowship – as 1 of the 20 young social entrepreneurs representing 16 different countries by International Youth Foundation and was recognized as Global Shaper 2011 by World Economic Forum. He earned his MBA at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he was the only MBA student to receive Vice-Chancellor Social Impact Award 2014. As the President of Student’s Union BITS Pilani 2006-07, Yashveer co-founded the University VISION 2020 Plan.
Ms. Supriti is currently National Vice-Chairperson of Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY). Her career as a Diversity and Inclusion Consultant spans many years, at Sarvam and Infosys, Limited. She was RBI Research Fellow at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, and has volunteered with Akshara Foundation. She has a Master’s degree in Economics from Bangalore University, and has taught at MES College and National Law School, Bangalore.
Jayanthi Sridhar is an ICT Teacher and facilitator at Sri Kumaran Children’s Home. She has a strong interest in guiding and mentoring student initiatives and projects. She is passionate about sustainability issues and education. She manages two blogs – Eco(w)rite and Journal Jotting. She likes quiet time, and spending time in Nature. She wants everyone – adult or child – to reconnect to Nature and enjoy the pleasures of slowing down and experience meditative silence.
